: : Hi!
: : I have just bought an S4+ module. I use Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 for sequencing, and I want Cakewalk to control all program changes and volume/panning adjustment and changes.
: : I have done as explained in the Tech Note "Using the S4 Plus Sound Module with a Sequencer" on the Alesis web-page (http://www.alesis.com/support/notes/Keyboard/SEQUENS8.html), i.e. set Mix Group Channel to "OFF" , chosen Bank Pre 1, MIX 99 "Multitmbrl" and turned FX program change "OFF".
: : Program change, volume and panning works fine, but the bank select doesn't... even though the sequencer sends the correct bank select on controller 0...
: : Are there any more settings on the S4+ that I should check?
: I don't know the S4, but some modules have a "general midi" mode in which bank
: switching does not work, because GM is only one bank (and anything sent on channel 10 is
: drums). You should check on this in your manual.
I have an S4+.Go into Global edit and turn off General midi. Make sure your controller or sequencer isn't sending it a GM message as well or it will keep going back to GM mode.Next, go to the Mix group channel page and select a channel as your Mix group channel. You must have this function enabled or the S4 won't do anything in mix mode.Send bank and program change messages on this channel to change mixes, regular program change messages on other channel within the mix function as normal.
