: : : Hi
: : : I have a problem with my QS6.1 It has low level hum on the audio outs and headphone jack. Is this normal?
: : Yes it is! Mine does it too. Main volume slider doesn't affect it either. I've heard of someone who sent theirs to Alesis and had it repaired, but who knows how that will work considering the current status of the company. Some QS6.1s don't make the noise, but many do. Something to do with the quality or the shielding of the power supply. A cost cutting measure no doubt. If I turn up the program volume and the main slider while keeping the volume level on the mixer a bit lower it isn't noticable during live performance and recording is ok too.3rd party repair shop is another option as well. Good Luck!
: That sucks. The fact that it is on the headphone outs means that its getting into the
: audio inside the machine. It could be the shielding, or it could be inadequate ripple
: filtering on the power supply.
I have an 8.1. I get hum through the main outputs but not throught the headphone jack, which is absolutely quiet. Fortunately I have a friend who is an electronics wiz and he is going to see if he can isolate the cause.
