: My QS8 has developed an octave of "noisy" keys. B5 to Bb6 have an annoying bounce and "clack" sound when released. This is a mechanical sound, not an electronic sound. They also have a slightly different feel to them, like maybe the weight is a little slow in returning to rest when the key is released.

: I'm fairly skilled at mechanical things and am not afraid to open it up for a look-see myself. But before I do, has anyone else opened up a QS8? Anything I should be particularly aware of (e.g. which screws to remove, which ones NOT to remove, what springs are likely to fly across the room into oblivion, etc.)

: Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Earl,
I've done this twice to my QS8.1. It's no fun but not that hard. Lay your QS8 upside down on a soft surface. Take out the three screws on the bottom of each end board. Carefully turn your keyboard right side up and take out all the screws along the seam on the back. Now your QS is in two pieces. The side boards and control panel are connected together, and you can grab the side boards and lift the whole thing off. You might have to pry them very slightly outward to clear the bottom panel. The heavy bottom with the keyboard (keys), motherboard, and power supply will stay on the table. The top is connected to the bottom by a couple ribbon cables, and I think one is fairly short, you might have to disconnect it. Good luck!
Chris
