I don't think you've given quite enough information for anyone to offer you a definite diagnosis.
For one thing, what's your sound source? You don't mention having your QS audio outs connected to your computer. Do you? Or are you trying to drive a software synth?
You mention just a single MIDI cable. That means you only have a one-way connection. You'd need 2 cables to communicate back and forth, which is crucial if you have the QS set to local-off. So, which Out is connected to which In? (Now, when using a serial cable, all you need is one.)
Also, what do you mean by a 15-pin MIDI port? MIDI is only a 5-pin standard (2 of which aren't even used), and serial cables are 8-pin.
So maybe you could start over and describe your set-up a bit more thoroughly...?
: I'm not able to hear a sound from my computer speakers when I play a note on my qs6.1. I have a regular midi cable hooked up from my computers 15 pin midi port to the in/out port on the synth. I set everthing up on my digital orchestrator sequencer, and also on the global edit menu, but I still can't hear anything when I play. Do I need to buy and extra device like a midiman or something? I also hear anything from the computer on the other keyboard I have too. I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks
