Hello Mark.
Yes filter cutoff is the reference to
"cutoff frequency" in Alesis terms. Also
TVF is sometimes referred to simply as "filter".
I would recommend a book for you to read.-
"Programming Synthesizers" by Helen Casabona and
David Frederick. Alfred Publishing Co.,Inc.
ISBN 0-88284-363-X. It's concise and inexpensive ~$15 but
covers everything. It's a beginners book, but trust
me - once you understand it (it may require several
passes, though) - synth programming would become
simple and enjoyable.
Alesis synth is not the best box to practice on, though.
Roland's tend to be the most comprehensive and well
organized. Sometimes it even seems that all the "synth" books
were written with Roland in mind.
Anyway, read the book, understand it - and you will be
able to program any synth.
Dmitry.
