: : There are also dedicated transpose and sequence start buttons (like those on the 6.1), and, according to the Alesis webpage, a new, improved GM set. There is a description of the 7.1 now available on the Alesis website.
: Also I understand that the circuitry has been tweaked for 6db better output.
My keyboard rig was just upgraded from a QS8 to 8.1 and Wow! It sounds
like the analog section has been improved. It's more than just an additional
6dB of dynamic range. Better op-amps?
Regarding the display: the font for the program number
is bigger, though the descriptive text (the really useful information) is the
same size as before;
and the text order (reading top-to-bottom) has been changed.
That will take a little getting used to...
The transpose button is a nice feature, especially compared to it's
previous location (buried on page 19 of the menu). However, it's not
functional on my unit: it does change the LCD display to a "transpose
mode," but all attempts to modify the value were unsuccessful. (I even
consulted the manual!)
