I love my QSR, but there's been one bothersome deficit: When I've connected the synth module to my Power Mac's serial port, there is low-level noise interference -- even a clicking type of noise caused by every key-action which produces a MIDI message from the controller synth. If your QS suffers this, be sure that you can live with the annoyance -- but don't settle for it if you're making recordings: This underlying noise will show up in whatever you record.
Therefore, MIDI interface seems to be the best recourse. It cost me money I didn't expect to spend because my 7 year old interface had only one In and three outs. The QSR requires bi-directional communication (MIDI In/Out) which competed with my synth's In/Out, so I shopped for an interface with at least two In's. I decided on a MOTU Pocket Express from Sweetwater. Because much of my software is MOTU, it seemed to make sense to stay in the same family. I did have a major roadblock with configuring it so I could properly and seamlessly work with the QSR's mixes in Unisyn's editor and librarian. What I overlooked was accurately configuring the MOTU FreeMIDI setup. Contact me for specifics on what solved my problem.
