: I got a good controller A70EX which has RD100 piano samples and good real instrument sounds.
: Now I need more like synth sounds. Will nanosynth do good?
nano has a lot of voices, decent quality etc., but the QSR would give you much greater flexibility when you get into programing your own sounds. It costs more than nano, but you can also load in your own samples onto a flashmemory card, set up as many memory banks as you care to: 128 programs, 100 mixes (playable on one midi channel or up to 16 midi channels simultaneously) per bank, buy a $80 card and you can have 8 MORE program/mix banks. not to mention Q-cards, dual stereo outs (4) Your right, the EX70 is a great unit, but you might want to start with the QSR module before adding others down the road. Oh, did I mention the QSR's ability to play sequences from a flashcards loaded from your computer. The multitude of string samples on the QSR should also blend well with your onboard rd100 samples. (it's always best to stack non-similar string samples to produce a richer harmonic blend). Either way, nano or QSR they're both nice units for the price. Happy hunting!
