Assuming that the battery is used to power the memory storing the user bank and such, before replacing it, you should probably just back up your user bank using Freeloader (or something similar), and make a note of any global settings that you will need to restore. Then, power down your synth and change the battery. I have not needed to change the battery in my Alesis, but I know in most electronics you have the least risk of damaging things when the power is off. Once the new battery is in, reload your user bank and restore the settings.

: i would *think*, that if you kept the power on, took out the battery, jumped in your car and quickly bought a new one, you might be okay. once again, i am not that brave, nor is that a problem yet for me. if anyone else has changed a battery, let us all know!
