I have a 486dx66 with 16Mb ram, and it handles quite a few tracks of midi with no trouble. At least 15-20(certainly it depends on thier complexity). You should get a look at Power Tracks Pro Audio Sequencer software(only $30 US), from PG music at www.pgmusic.com. I think they have a downloadable demo. Don't let the price fool you, this is an excellent sequencer, and for only $30. PowerTracks also records audio, and has rendered effects and sound editing. I will admit, that my 486 does not handle wav data very well, but midi is no problem.
