first steps. Make sure Keyboard is in MIX mode, also I put a Patch change at the beginning of each track of the song, to make sure it tells the keyboard to change to this sound, its supposed to check sutomatically when you start the song in Cakewalk but I havnet found this to t=be the case. Ive even gone as far as to put the SYSEX command for Change to Mix mode and another to turn general midi off in with the song in the sysex area, this makes sure the thing goes to mix mode and turns General midi off whn you load the Sequence. Then when you start the song it sends the commands to change each channel to the correct Patch you want. I want to figure out a way to have it change to the proper mix, and have the mix saved on the boards, but I havent figured out the sysex command for this yet. Right now it just changes to USER 00 so i go with it.
Hope that helps some.. There is a message earlier in this forum that tells the sysex commands for the Gen Midi off and MIX mode change.
Good Luck

: OK, I didn't think this midi stuff would be so frustrating. I know how to set midi devices in Cakewalk, I can set track properties, and I've loaded the QS ins file. So why, whenIiplay some of my midi files, does the QS8.1 revert to piano on some or all of the channels?? The manuals for both the QS and Cakewalk make pretty good door stops, but that's about it
: I was hoping for a step-by-step user guide. I plan on also playing live along with the files, so I need to make sure everything is properly set. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
