: how do I put a Mix that I made w/ my QS6 in
a midi file so that when someone else with a
QS6 loads the midi file, it will load the mix
on theirs and play all the right instruments.
The way I know to do this, Dave, is to put CC's
in the header of the MIDI file to select the
bank and program for each channel.
To select patch YY in Bank XX:
CC0 XX ProgCh YY
Select a channel and go into the list editor
in Cubase. Insert a CC0 (bank change) followed by
XX where:
XX is: 0>user 1>PRE1 2>PRE2 3>PRE3 4>GM (PRE4)
Now insert a program change, followed by the
number of the program.
Do this for each channel.
The other way is to setup the Mix the way you like
it and then SYSEX it to disk. But then you
have two files to keep track of, whereas when CC's
are built into the MIDI file, it's auto. And they
can be easily edited for other QSx's.
If you are using a Mac, then I recommend looking
at a program called MidiGraphy. This is a very
nice sequencer and the list editor let's you select
CC's from a menu.
