drum edit mode (this allows you to edit individual
drum sounds instead of one sound assigned to the entire keyboard), and then change the mono or polo settings of the open and the closed high hats. If mono is assigned to a sound, that sound will not "ring over" itself (when a note is the played, the previous note is immediately muted). If polo is assigned to a sound, the entire decay of the note will be heard even when other notes are played.
The question is how do you get the open high hat to mute when the closed one is played. Try assigning both the open and closed high hat to "MONO". This should keep them from playing at the same time.
