Check your global settings. It may be that you have the touch/responsiveness set to maximum, which will result in maximum velocity at whatever volume setting you use. That pretty much eliminates your ability to control volume by touch. Also, it is my experience that the outputs on the QS are pretty hot generally. You made need to bring the gain or volume on your mixer/amp down to allow yourself more control on the keyboard. Finally, there is a post from about a year ago entitled something like "Control those velocities," which gives some good tips on dealing with these kinds of issues.
