As I understand, the Alesis QS6, QS7, and QS8 all use AMD D series type 1 linear flash PCMCIA cards rated at 5v. I belive prices on these cards might have gone up. At one time I think the 8MB card was under $100, but the cheapest I've been able to locate on pcmcia cards so far is at Tima Scientific [http://www.timasci.com/pricelist.htm]
I've seen prices for the 8MB card go as high as $250, but Tima has the 4MB card for $64, and the 8MB card runs $124.
I've been thinking of getting one of these cards for sequencing, but I want to ensure these cards really DO work successfully in the QS series synths. I would also like to verify this is the type of pcmcia card to use, as I am not absolutely sure if these cards will work in the QS series synths or not. As far as I know, these cards from Tima have metal cases, and I heard there were problems with using pcmcia cards that had metal cases before.
If these cards will work, then Tima Scientific seems to be the best source for them currently - unless someone has found pcmcia flash for even less than this.
