: : Does anyone know if afore mentioned hardware works? I cannot seem to get MIDI messages from and to iMac or QS8. How can I test the adapter? I tried Midi test, a program from Emanuel Jourdan but failed again to get information. Appreciate help from somebody who has been successful in hooking up QS8 via serial cable to iMac.

: Hi,
: I'm having similar problems. I have a G3 powerbook and a QS8. I first purchased the Keyspan adapter. But then I was told by people at Alesis that you have to buy a USB to Midi converter, and that USB to serial won't work. So I tried that. But I still am having problems with all of the software. I can see that the Midi converter is working, but in Cubasis, for example, I still can't seem to get input. My theory is that Cubasis and the other software on that CD is outdated and isn't compatible with USB. My guess is that we need to get our hands on the software that comes with the QS8.1. Keep in touch (ward@sojos.com) and let me know if you have any luck. Thanks!
Ward - It'll be no go on the 8.1 software. It doesn't work either. It's all old. What a projct this is going to be. I just got the USB/serial adapter today. Great to hear that won't be working. (sarcasm!!) the eMagic software on the 8.1 CD is one version outdated (ie they give you 3, the USB compatible is in version 4...
it's ashame they package all this old software that doesn't work. Just end up spending more $$$ in the end...
