computer to qs (via serial) to other module possible?

I have a computer, a qs6, and a newly aquired dm-pro. I've always had my qs conected to my computer via serial cable. I want to now connect the dm-pro to the midi out/thru on the qs. I can't seem to get this to work.

When set to 38.4 I can control the qs from the computer but not reach dm-pro. When set to MIDI I can control the dm-pro from the qs but can't reach anything from the computer.

Is it possible to control both from the computer using the serial cable into the qs?
