I think I may have the same problem. While I wouldn't classify it as a "horrible" noise, my QS6.1 does emit a faintly audible background hum, both from the sound outputs and the headphone jack. It's not bad enough to limit normal use, but it is a problem for recording. In fact, I didn't really notice it until I tried making a recording on my Mac.
So does anybody know if s this a problem with all QS units, or only some? I haven't sent mine in for servicing yet, but I would probably do so if it would eliminate the problem. From what some have posted here, it doesn't sound too promising.
