: I admit I don't understand this sysex stuff. I want to include a message at the start of each midifile that will turn off General midi and then put the the QSR into 00 "multimbrl" Bank: USER. Can anyone help me out on this?
: Where can a person find out or learn what all the codes do? It's all Greek to me.
It's pretty complex stuff.
It helps to understand hexidecimal notation.
Search your software CD that came with your synth, I think it includes information on sysex, even advice. Also, the Alesis web site has sysex implementation at
http://www.alesis.com/downloads/sysex/qseries/QSSYX.DOC
Good luck!
Alesis take note: My Yamaha MU100R has the best sysex trick ever: for any parameter which cannot be controlled by regular MIDI controller data, you just dial up the value you want, hit ENTER twice, and the display shows you the sysex code. Hit ENTER again, and the MU100R dumps the code via MIDI! Fantastic.
