In Reply to: My Alesis D4 has noise HELP !! posted by Ricardo on April 28, 2005 at 07:47:59:
: Hi:
: I know this forum is for QS synths but I have a problem and haven't found a forum where to ask.
: My Alesis D4, drum module, began to act strangely about a week ago by emitting a bit of noise.
: Then suddenly yesterday it turn completely bad.
: This is what happens everytime I turn it on: initially it sounds perfectly, then in less than 3 minutes it begins to sound bad progressively until it becomes unplayable. Has anyone experienced this with synths or else ? Any experience with electronics that could give me hint ?
: Thanks.
I discovered that when I brought it to my workplace, where it is very cold ( air conditioner ), it sounded perfectly longer, so I thought that this has to do with something inside that is heating up.
When I turn it on in my home it sounded all wrong, I assumed that it was because of the heat, it was a hot day.
Then I did the following: I brought the D4 to the freezer for 5 minutes.
result: I kept it turned on for hours and it sounded well all the time. I kept cheking from time to time for it to funcion improperly but it didn't.
What do you think is the cause of the malfunction ?
