Well, there is a program that you can get from Alesis.com called FreeLoader. It is used to store system exclusive files from your QS or load them into your QS for new sounds.

It's for Windows, and hopefully it will work on XP.

Then the other types of programs you'll probably be interested in are Multitrack recorders with MIDI support. A good powerful one to use is Cubase or Cubasis. Also Cakewalk makes some good multitrackers too.

You will also want a Wave editor so you can edit your recorded sounds. A good freeware one is Audacity.

There are also some programs for QS synths that supposedly make editing patches easier. You can find them at SynthZone.com under Alesis. Personally, I think it's better to learn how to edit sounds directly on the QS.
