: Hello QS owners!
: This is my first post to this forum, and I'm hoping someone can help.
: I own a QS+, purchased in the summer of 1996. For the past six months, I have experienced horrible, spontaneous changes in pitch as I play, as if I was turning the pitch bend wheel! Sometimes this problem goes away when I turn off the keyboard and then turn it back on, but lately it has become more frequent. It has made recording impossible.
: My keyboard is connected to an old device which I have been using as a preamp, the Sansui Reverberation Amplifier RA-990. The amplifier is then connected to the auxiliary inputs on my stereo, a Technics stacked stereo, tape player, and CD changer. The speakers are attached to the stereo. I realize this setup may be part of the problem, although it sounded fine the first year and a half.
: Also, I have a second question. As the pitch changing has gotten progressively worse, so has the output to my speakers. I have to turn up the speakers to at least 10 db to barely hear what I am playing on the keyboard. The recordings I make are full of hiss in the background. What equipment do I need to fix this - is it a problem with my speakers, my wires, or my "preamp"? Should I buy a real amplifier?
: Thank you for taking time to read this.

Amy:
The problem DEFINITELY lies within your QS. The preamp and stereo setup can not possibly cause what you are hearing. I would consider calling Alesis (number should be in manual) and have your QS looked at and fixed. I have had similar problems with MIDI gear in the past....Good luck!
