What you have to do is turn your volume knob
all the way to the MAX (or close to it) and
set your mixer accordingly. Plug your headphones
into your mixer instead of directly into the QS.
The QS and QS+ have a "digital" volume knob.
The way this seems to work is
1. note synthesis
2. volume knob
3. effects processors
4. D to A converters (where applicable)
5. outputs (headphones, ADAT, etc.)
The headphone output is at maximum already,
in analog, so it hisses even when the volume
knob is at zero.
Since the volume knob precedes the effects
processors, you're probably not getting any use
out of the "overdrive" effects in the effects
processors. Also, you are not getting all
16 bits worth out of your D to A converters.
Try it, it will work. I've run several
relatively noise-free mixes with my QS+.
