I have an Alesis synth and love the sounds, but I believe everyone seems to have a different perspective when it comes to sounds. My recomendation is for you to go into a music store that sells Alesis synths and sit down with one for an hour and go through the sounds. If it sounds like what you are looking for then buy it.
