Yes! you are right! I think freeloader for the mac has number of bugs.
I had the same experience. What you can do, convert the .syx files to Unisyn bank file format, and then send the banks from Unisyn.
I wrote a small converter program (~2 years ago) which converts .syx to Unisyn and back if needed. Write me if you need the converter.
