Funny you should mention that. Someone made a similar comment. Check the "amplifying the alesis " thread.
I haven't had a problem, mine is at least 4 years old, but apparently other people have had a similar problem, which seems to come from the power supply.
In regards to support its hit or miss. The only time I've dealt with them they got back to me in < 24 hrs. But I've heard complains.
So try posting on this thread and hopefully someone can help you
