Hi f3,
Thanks so much for responding. I think your assessment is right. At least to my limited knowledge of all this stuff, it does seem logical that Cubase is sennding out some sort of message just before the sequence begins. But I cant figure out what that is.
Let me answer your questions and maybe you can help me further. I really appreciate your time and help.

: 1) Is this your own sequence or something you downloaded or obtained from elsewhere?
All my own sequences
: 2) What 'mix' patch are you actually in when this happens? Multitimbral?? Some other? Is this a GM mode sequence?
Multitimbral. Not GM
: 3) What are all of the specific patches in the mix?
It happens to any stereo piano patch including presets, and user modified patches.
: 4) What are the effects send / effects patch selections?
Various; reverbs on, off and everthing in between
: 5) Can you look at a comprehensive "events" list in Cubasis and see what is going out on all channels in the first few moments of the sequence? Make sure this includes any Sysex messages (especially if this is a sequence you picked up from someone else). Basically, is there anything there that looks like it doesn't belong.
Ive checked list edit (which in Cubase is what you are referring to, I think) There is nothingther but note on, off and sustain events.
: 6) Do you have a measure or two of blank space between when you send the patch messages to each channel and when the actual sequence (notes) itself starts up? Or do notes etc all start on measure 1, beat 1?
I always start each sequence with a measure before playing. But I do have it set to pre-record, or maybe its called, pre-roll.

Thanks again for your help
Jim
