: 1st) The Mod Wheel sends out midi data when I leave it centered.

I sometimes see this on my QS8 as well. It happens when it's set almost exactly between two values. It usually isn't a continuous stream, but will alternate between two adjacent values a few times a minute. Usually, giving it a slight nudge stops it. If your's is giving you a rapid steady stream of changes (or is jumping more than a single value), your QS8 may need service.

: 2nd) Now and then I get an exclamation point on my lcd screen next to where it says the program number. When this exclamation point appears I get distortion coming out of my keyboard.

From the QS7/QS8 Reference Manual, page 88:
>>>If the input to the effects becomes overloaded, the "!" symbol will temporarily appear in the upper display (between the Bank name and the Mix/Program number)... If this should occur, try reducing the Input Levels for each of the effects devices in the current configuration, and (if necessary) reduce the Effects Levels in the Mix and/or Program.<<<

I suspect in your case this is related to your next problem.

: 3rd) When I put the QS8 into Mix mode, I now and then get a loud sound coming out of the aux outs. Almost like a siren.

If you are hearing this on one of the factory patches, then there is almost certainly something wrong with your unit. However, it is possible to set up a patch with enough feedback (through the Pitch and Delay effects units) so that it goes to maximum output. If you are using a patch that you edited yourself or got from someone else, try editing it to bypass all the effects and see if the problem goes away. If it does, add the effects back in but back off any feedback parameter and see if that fixes the problem.
