: So, I think that, if I try to connect up the speakers through to the NS RCA plugs,
: then it does not see the basic signal coming through the MIDI interface, and therefore doesn't output any sound.

I'm not quite sure how to interpret this sentence. What is "it" in this case: the NS?

The NS does not know or care whether you connect anything to its output RCA plugs. The critical thing is
whether the serial MIDI data is coming from the serial port (yours is apparently the "modem" port) to the
NS. If the NS sees MIDI, then the MIDI light will flash for each MIDI message. If Cubasis can't see the modem
port (is it assigned to something else at that time, like the modem or the printer?) then no MIDI will get to the NS box.

Is the TV box under the control of the Mac, or is it completely outboard? Can you "draw" a little diagram?
What is this box exactly? Can you give a make and model number?

Note that the NS has input audio jacks as well, which just get mixed with the output. So maybe you can put
the NS in the audio line somewhere else, and mix in (say), the TV audio or whatever other audio is coming in.
The audio in must be "line" level, and not speaker output.

Dan
