: : None of the shops that I've been visiting seems to
: : have a S4+ pianocard in stock. Does anybody know how
: : it compares with the original Emulator Proformance.
: : The QSR favors a very good pianosound. Is it the
: : same sound on the card?. If not, does anybody then
: : know if Alesis is plannig on making this sound avail-
: : able for the entire Qadrasynthfamily.

: Yes! The samples on the card are just the same ones
: found in the QS7/8/R. The QS6 has 8 Mb sample memory,
: while the QS7, QS8 and QSR all have 16 Megs containing
: the 8 Mb of the QS6 and 8 Mb used for the piano
: sounds. This 8 Mb are exactly the same you get from
: the card and they also include some EPs, Wurlys,
: strings, pads... all the sounds that you're likely
: to use along with the pianos. I played an Proformance
: Plus once and though I found it to be close to a
: real piano, it's not as smooth and responsive as the
: Alesis Stereo Grand.
If you can't find the Stereo Grand Piano Card anywhere in your area, you might want to try one of several mail order places: Musician's Friend, American Music Supply, Full Compass, or Sweetwater Sound. I do not have the phone #'s off hand, but if you're interested, post a message, and I'll try to give them to you.
