I have had this same problem, with the exception that I am using Cubase VST. I set the port rate on both the serial port and the driver to 57600 and it worked for about 100 bars before freezing. I then set the port rate to 38600 and the problem went away alltogether. The only problem with this solution is that it works fine for midi data, but if you dump any large samples to your board on a regular basis, it takes about twice as long. small samples and Sysex are fine though.
