A good patch editor (I use Geoff Moehrke's QControl) can tell you about the modulation matrix, but it can be tedious if you're looking for something specific.
Varying the filter cutoff frequency in real time is such a common thing that the filter has a setting that lets you use the mod wheel to vary it. You can also specify filter cutoff frequency as a destination in the modulation matrix in case you want to control it some other way (e.g. the sliders or a volume pedal.)
