I've had my QS7 for about 2 weeks now....And it just keeps getting
better and better !!! What a machine ! In a previous posting I mentioned
that I did not get the CD. I figured it would take forever......well, it
didn't. Alesis got it to me in one week. You've got to complement them
for that. Thanks for this AWESOME site....It's been a big help !!

Currently deciding between purchasing an old TS-12 or a QS7. I have
a 486-33 laptop with only 4 meg that I would love to be able to connect
to my new computer. However it does not have a sound card and therefore
has difficulty with midi and sound. If I were to edit a sound on the laptop
is it possible to audition that sound in real time on the QS7. Also what
is the 48KHz Sync port used for. Up until now I have used older Roland
boards in both the studio and live but I really like the features on the
QS7. Is there any site where the QS7 manual is on line so I can really
get down into the nitty gritty of it.

Just got a QS7... WOW !!! Did a lot of research and trying different
synths, but nothing else came close ! If your looking for a keyboard and
are thinking about an Alesis.. go for it ! Sadly, I did'nt get a cd-rom.
And from the looks of other postings, it looks like it might take a while.
But, this site a bunch of software... so my question is... Is the software
on this site the same as the CD ?? It appears that between this site and
the Alesis site, you should be able to get the majority of the software
thats on the CD. Can someone please reply....Thanks. This is a GREAT site

that you offer say to turn GM off and put to user mode. Also, How can I
copy a sound from my piano card to another place so when I use a RAM card
to play the songs it can find the sound. (It only has one card slot ) I
am in the need of any good books on the QS6 or Cakewalk. Please let me

Hallo I brought an Alesis S4+ in England for about 4 mounts ago,
and I like it alot. But there`s been some problems with the synt. After
some time the synt "locks up" (after about 5min.) and then it
has to stand without power for a log while, before I can turn on the power
again and access the sounds once more. The fist time this happend I sendt
the synt back to England (I live in Norway) and got a new one. But the
same thing happend to the secund synt. Now I`m wondereing what the problem
is, and what I`m going to do whit this secound synt. (It`s very exspensive
for a student to send pagages back and fouth to England) Hope there are
someone out there who can help me! Please E-mail me at: Fredrik.hostad@sn.no

Boy, am I having an awful time trying to get my PC (P-5,133MHz Wintel,
48MB RAM)to talk to my QS7 through the serial port. It always tells me
it can't find it, although it changes the synth from Porgram to MIX Init.
I hope I can find some help on your page. I wish they made an Amiga driver
- I'd have been up and running long ago. I hate that I had to switch from
Amiga to PC for software availability......

I have a QS-7 and after waiting months, finally got the CDROM with
the sequencing software and drivers for my Windows PC. I have not been
able to use the serial port as a connection to the QS-7. (I'm using the
Alesis serial cable.) Instead, my PC locks up and has to be rebooted, or
the instrument changes with each note I play on the keyboard. I think it
may have to do with some conflict with my sound card (a Turtle Beach Monterey),
but have not found any IRQ conflicts. Has anyone else had this experience?
Have you found a solution? So far Alesis' tech support has not provided
a solution.

I have a QS4 (not plus) and cakewalk. I have a couple of questions.
I recently got the Rock card but found that in order to use it I would
have to write over the current user programs/mixes. The QS4 manual says
that you can download these to a card or to an external device, like (I
assume) the PC Hard Disk. However, the QS4 manual gives no additional info
on how to download to disk. I would rather not buy a storage card if I
can use my PC Hard Disk. I am looking for any information on how/if downloading/uploading
to/from a PC is done. Also, the instructions with the Rock card say that
if I have version 2.0 of the QS4 software I can run the card right from
the card, without downloading/uploading anything. My QS4 has software version
1.7something. Can I buy/upload/download version 2.0 from somewhare? That
would solve the first problem but I would still like to know how to upload/download
to disk. Help Anyone!! Thanks.

It is a miracle, but I have a QS8! Have used it on 2 gigs--at 1,
a visiting band was slack-jawed at the sound of this great instrument.
I have had many keyboards, but this one it "it." By the way,
I played at a hotel and a valet knocked it over face down (in the case)--POW!
It worked fine all night...

I still use my Atari STs for sequencing and editing, as do many
others. Will there be a Soundbridge for the ST?I ask the question because
since Soundbridge was originallyprogrammed for the Mac, it may be relatively
easy to portit over to the Atari ST.

Fantastic site! Thanks!A question for the FAQ: It appears that the
S4 Plus will not allow you to send AND STORE and entire bank to the User

the STORE button twice. This seems nuts. Has anyone else run into this?
Any solutions? Thanks again. --Avar
