The QuadraSynth Guestbook
Thank you for visiting The QuadraSynth Page.
I`ve tried them all, and none of them hold a candle to the Q-synth+P that I own.My only problem is I`m using cakewalk
home studio to sequence, and am having tech. problems with
bank and patch configurations. Any expert advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have a QS7 that I bought about 1 yr ago. I am in love with this keyboard. I am disappointed in the manual though. Do you know of any manuals for this keyboard in print that is more exhaustive and user friendly than the one that came with the keyboard. I am an Ensonique user and love the format of the literature they put out.
thanks.

Hello QS friends this is an Email I sent to Alesis recently regarding a problem I've encountered when programming my QS-8, I have no response from Alesis yet so any ideas suggestions or comments please Email em on over to me, Thanks,
Marcus
Dear Alesis,
I've really been digging into my QS-8 and for the most part I really
enjoy it. Except for one hugely nagging problem. I cannot get the mono
legato to keep any waveforms envelope through it's completion! Here is
an example.
Using the internal wave "Uni Rez" from the "synth" bank of wave's, with
a standard sustaining amp and filter (set to freerun, mono and I've also
tried normal, mono) play a single "C2" key. You should hear about a one
second resonant envelope sample complete it's (Cheeeoooowww) cylce. Now
play the same C2 key and quickly (... a couple milliseconds or so legato
style...) move to another key. ( let's say D2)
You will notice that although it does not retrigger the samples start
point it also does not let the samples envelope complete it's cycle
trhough to the other note (or notes). Thus killing the whole analog mono
replication. On say a minimoog if you were to set a long "Cheeeooowww "
type envelope and play x amount of notes within the time frame that the
envelope takes to complete it's cycle all notes played in legato fashion
would each enter in at a different part of the envelope instead of just
dropping the attack parameters completly and just picking up at the
sustain point.
Is there something I have missed. This feature is a necessity in
attaining analog replication, It is a must. If this is not currently in
the QS-8's system architecture could it possibly implemented in a future
system software upgrade?
Please let me know the answers to these questions.

Pardon my ignorance, but I'm really a guitar player with some arranging skills who purchased a QS+ and Cakewalk Pro Audio to work on my own compositions and not have to worry about finding musicians to help me realize them. My problems are these (try not to laugh too hard - remember, I'm new to this!):
I've created custom mixes for the work I'm doing and saved them to places in the MixUser bank. I think I can save them to my PC via Cakewalk's sysex utility, but do I have to store them to the QS's user bank before I send them to the PC? What I'd like to do is leave all of the original QS programs and mixes alone and only recall my custom mixes when I need them. I'm sure this must be possible, but how? I don't have a flash rom card to burn my custom mixes to. Any enlightenment would be much appreciated. The new possibilities I have with the QS and Cakewalk are very exciting, but kind of intimidating when you first step up to the plate.

Fantastic page, I'm going to put a link to it on my website asap. I came here as part of the research for deciding on a new master controller. I have played 3 different QS8s, and liked them all, but it's always cool to hear what people are saying who have owned them for awhile.
Bottom line: I'm off to buy a QS8, and I did indeed get in touch with Ben at Kraft Music. If that information is dated, or you know of a place to get a great buy, please let me know.

THANKS! I sent an SOS to Alesis re:FLASHcards and audio recording, among other things. Adam was kind enough to deal gently with this novice, and also to direct me to your site. Two months after having purchased my Quadrasynth, the unit developed a faulty "Mix" button. I promptly sent the unit in for repair and it took six (6), yes six months to get it back! Very informative and useful site. Perhaps a section for beginners could be added, "QS/Midi for Dummies"! Things like, an overview of what the software on the CDROM does, how to back up and load User Banks, how to tailor mixes so an imported Midi sequence sounds decent (still can't get the drum track right), how to play along with the sequence (found turning Keyboard ON helps!) etc. When I get all this figured out I can contribute to a beginners section...

I love your website. I've found lots of usable software and information. The question and answer section are very educational. I currently use a quadrasynth plus. Can you get more custom patches? You never have enough sounds.
Keep up the good work.

I've got a QS7 and I love playing with it, but I am definitely
a novice when it comes to really using its features. I have
been a piano player (more of a hack) and the whole synth
thing is relatively new to me. Any advice on using my
keyboard will be welcomed.

It is way cool to have a site dedicated to the Alesis QS product line.
My experience is that the real work of support for most electronic music,
beyond the tech stuff, is done by people other than the Factory Folks.
Not that they don't care or are not capable.
I know that many of those manufacturer personnel are
musicians who have had a direct infulence in the developemet of these marvels
of the computer age. I am certain that the composers of the classical age
would have killed for what we now take for granted. They could not just
gather an orchestra together and try out some new tunes. I for one, as a non-tech
am grateful to people like you.
Thanks
Willy Brown
who have brought us these marvels of the computer age.

Anyone that has successfully used the Soundbridge Windows version to load midi files and/or banks of programs to a FlashRAM card, write me!! I am able to load samples, and absolutely love my QS8, but I'm now convinced there are serious bugs in the (PC) Soundbridge and Freeloader programs (Mac versions work fine).
So whether you can prove me right or wrong, write me, or post here.
