Midi Playback Delay Problem

I have a HP notebook, 900 MHz with a built-in ESS Audio Board. The OS is Windows XP Home

Edition.

I have noticed that there is a delay on the playback of the midi notes. The delay is about 100

ms and can be heard.

The main problem is when i try to playback Audio Recorded tracks along with midi tracks (in a

CakeWalk Project). Since the Audio tracks have no delay it doesn't play synchronously with the

midi tracks and the whole sound gets scrambled.

I'm using the midi playback driver installed by default (Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth). Can

the problem be in the driver? Or is it something else?
